PRODUCT ART DIRECTION

EVERFOREST

Since 2021, I have been Art Director for the upcoming mobile game, EverForest. In this role, I direct a team of talented artists as well as produce visual targets, character designs, paintovers, treatments, marketing images, etc…

AVATAR GENERATIONS

Avatar Generations provided a fun challenge for me and the team - how do we bring the characters and world of Avatar: The Last Generation into a mobile-friendly format. I developed many pieces of artwork to propose different visual styles that would bring the brand to a modern audience. In the end, we landed on a style that referenced the wonderful graphic novels by Guri Hiru. I worked with the great folks at Doomwood to develop systems for shading, rigging and rendering the character models to achieve this style.

IRON MAIDEN: LEGACY OF THE BEAST

As Art Director on the Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast mobile game, I was primarily responsible for the development of new in-game characters and environments from concept through completion of in-game model and animation. I also created initial sketches, reference packs, and color keys to internal and external teams to develop engaging marketing artwork. I also worked to develop partnerships with bands in the hard rock genre (Lacuna Coil, Amon Amarth) to bring their characters into the world of Legacy of the Beast.

PETE THE CAT

As Art Director on the Pete the Cat animated series for Amazon Prime, I upheld the existing style of the show and pushed new creative visuals and ideas. Many episodes required a unique visual direction, so style guides and colour thumbnails were created to guide the team of talented layout, background, prop and character artists. I reviewed each art asset and mentor the team members.

UNBOXALS

This fun educational/entertaining game for preschool kids was created by a small team of passionate folks who are excited for children to learn about the amazing super powers of animals!

CARD-JITSU SNOW

I served as the primary concept artist & illustrator in the development of Card-Jitsu Snow for Disney's Club Penguin. The Card-Jitsu sub-brand is one of Neil's favourite elements of the game, and the team was given the opportunity to develop an entirely new battle game, revolving around a new villain, Tusk.

A more serious tone was created for Snow, with a series of in-game cinematics slowly revealing the Tusk character and upping the ante for the player. Tusk's snowmen minions, equipped with a variety of winter sports gear, prove challenging opponents but nothing compared to the final battle with the mighty walrus himself.

BC CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

In 2016, a group of us applied for the opportunity to create a mural in the new Acute Tek wing of BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. In the end, we were asked to do three murals, so we created a rich story and immersive design that would help calm kids (and parents) through the process of having an MRI done.
